Dormitory Rules & Visitors

Living in the university dormitories is a great experience, but it comes with a few essential rules to ensure everyone's comfort and safety. Here is what you need to know.

Everyday Dorm Rules

  • Entering the building: Every time you enter the dormitory lobby, you must scan your student ID card at the reader.
  • Paying the rent: The rent for accommodation must be paid in cash or by credit card at the accommodation office (located in the K1 lobby) by the 15th day of the month.
  • Advance payments: It is possible to pay the rent in advance for several months or for your whole stay. It is essential to pay the rent on time to avoid penalty fees!
  • Cleanliness: You are expected to keep your rooms clean and respect the shared facilities on your floor or in your cell.

Visitors & Night Quiet Period

There is a possibility to accommodate your guests in the university residence halls, but strict rules apply according to the official Code of Conduct.

🤝 Having Visitors

  • Registration: Visitors must show identification to the doorman. These visits are recorded in the guest book.
  • Visiting hours: Standard visiting hours in the dormitories are from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
  • Overnight stays: Guests can stay in your room ONLY if you have the consent of your roommate(s). Alternatively, they can be accommodated in an available single room (more expensive).
  • Responsibility: The accommodated student (you) is fully responsible for the behavior of the visitor during their stay.
  • Visitors may be denied entry if they are obviously under the influence of alcohol or other substances.

🌙 Night Quiet & Events

  • Night quiet period: Lasts from 23:00 to 6:00 (11 PM - 6 AM). Please respect other students trying to sleep or study.
  • Entering at night: Between midnight (24:00) and 5:00 a.m., the entrance to the dormitory will be opened at your request by presenting a valid student ID to the doorman.
  • Parties & Events: Any event held by residents in the dormitories must be announced and authorized in advance. The organizer is responsible for the event and any damages.
  • Complaints: Complaints about disturbances of the night or other offenses can be lodged with the porter's lodge.
